CCTV footage showed the whole thing, with the defendant chasing Kamari while wielding a large knife. Witnesses described seeing him with a blood-stained weapon, which is just horrifying.
In police interviews, the teen claimed he acted in self-defense, but the jury didn’t buy it. They took over 13 hours to deliberate before reaching their verdict, and Kamari’s family was understandably heartbroken in court.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila called it a senseless killing, emphasizing how the community tried to help Kamari but couldn’t save him. The defendant is set to be sentenced soon, and it’s a tragic reminder of how quickly things can spiral out of control.
