Teignmouth is buzzing as it gears up for its first-ever dance festival, featuring styles for all ages and abilities
Teignmouth: Exciting news! The town is hosting its very first dance festival at the end of the month. Angela Rippon, a local TV star, is all in for it!
The TeignMove Dance Festival will showcase a mix of dance styles. From ballet to performance parkour, there’s something for everyone. Kids can join in on fun sessions, and there are even seated dance options for older folks.
This festival is the brainchild of Anna Leatherdale, a local dance teacher. She started dancing in Teignmouth over 50 years ago and has since taught and performed across Europe.
Anna has always dreamed of putting together a dance festival in her hometown. Back in her day, it was just tap or ballet. Now, she’s excited to offer a variety of styles, including Salsa and Argentine Tango. Plus, there’s a Ceilidh with live music on Friday night!
Thanks to some funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the festival has attracted top-notch artists. One of them is Jenny Thomas, a choreographer from BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, who will lead workshops in Charleston and Lindy Hop.
Angela Rippon even sent a supportive message, praising the festival. She highlighted how dance is fantastic for health and wellbeing, no matter your age or ability.
The TeignMove Dance Festival runs from January 31 to February 2 at the Pavilions Teignmouth. Tickets are available at the Pavilions Box Office, so don’t miss out!
