The Piccadilly line is set to reopen soon after repairs, bringing relief to commuters affected by recent disruptions
London: The Piccadilly line has been out of action between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge for a while now. This was due to some worn-out wheels and motors, which led to a shortage of trains.
Recent weather has caused a lot of leaf fall, which damaged the fleet. Some trains had to be pulled from service for repairs, adding to the delays on the line.
But there’s good news! Transport officials say the closed section should reopen later this month, though they haven’t pinned down an exact date yet.
Once that happens, the full service on the rest of the line will be back up and running. Richard Jones from TfL has apologized to passengers for the hassle.
He mentioned that the trains, being some of the oldest, have taken a hit from the weather. They’ve been working hard to fix everything to keep things safe and reliable.
They’re making good progress and expect to have the full Piccadilly line service restored by late January. However, passengers should brace for more disruptions in the coming months as new, air-conditioned trains are introduced.
There will be 13 weekends of partial closures along the line until the end of June, so keep an eye out for updates!
