Navigating London’s train stations can be a challenge, especially for newcomers
London: Even locals can find the transport system tricky, and it’s a real puzzle for visitors. With so many stations sharing names, it’s no wonder newcomers feel lost.
Take Canary Wharf, for example. It’s got three stations all named the same, which must be a headache for anyone trying to figure it out. And let’s not even start on the other confusing spots in the city.
Before 2022, there were just two stations at Canary Wharf. Then the Elizabeth line popped up, using the same name as the existing ones. Now, there’s also a DLR station and an Underground station for the Jubilee line.
To make things even more complicated, nearby stations like West India Quay and Heron Quays add to the mix. And it’s not just Canary Wharf; Paddington and Hammersmith have their own name-sharing issues.
Paddington has two stations, with different lines running through each. Hammersmith is similar, with one station for the Circle and Hammersmith and City lines, and another for the District and Piccadilly lines.
