The Lyndhurst pub in Reading has a new owner after a series of quick changes, sparking local interest and hope for its future.
Reading: The Lyndhurst pub has seen quite a bit of change lately. In just a year, it’s had three different owners. That’s a lot for one place!
Located on Queen’s Road, the pub recently got new tenants from the Stonegate group. The last owners didn’t stick around for long, just a few months.
This weekend, the new owners opened their doors for business. They shared a message on social media, thanking everyone who helped them get ready.
They announced, “Open tomorrow from 12, food and drinks all day.” Sounds like they’re eager to welcome locals!
It’s been tough for the previous owners, who faced a lot of challenges. Becky Blissett took over in 2024 but struggled to win over the community.
She mentioned, “We’ve had a couple of complications along the way,” and noted that some locals weren’t happy with the changes.
People accused her team of turning the pub into a sports bar, which wasn’t what many locals wanted. “We’re just trying to make it a pub,” she said.
Despite the backlash, she still had supporters. But it was clear that the previous owners had set a high bar with their gourmet food.
After Becky, Jim Kelly took over but didn’t last long either. It seems like running The Lyndhurst is no easy task!
Now that there’s a new owner, folks are sharing their thoughts online. Many are wishing the new team good luck, hoping they can make it work.
One comment on Facebook said, “Wish you all the success. It’s a lovely pub just need someone to run it right.” Let’s hope this new chapter is a good one!
