Ipswich: The Mermaid on Yarmouth Road is closing for a bit of a makeover. It’s owned by Marston’s and will be shut until February 14.

They’re planning to create a new bar area and a family lounge, which sounds pretty cool.

There’s even an artist’s impression of how the pub will look when it reopens. It’ll have a spacious seating area with lots of TVs for live sports.

Liam Robb, the general manager, is really excited about the changes. He wants to make it a great spot for everyone in the community.

He mentioned that the refurbishment will also create more jobs, which is always a good thing. Plus, it’ll be a nice place to grab a drink, catch a game, or enjoy a family meal.

When it reopens, the dog-friendly pub will still serve its popular carvery buffet along with other tasty meals.

Families love this place because of its big beer garden, kids’ play area, and board games. It’s also a go-to spot on Ipswich Town’s match days since it’s so close to Portman Road.

They’re also adding a new darts area and a pool table, which should make it even more fun!
