The Mermaid pub in Ipswich is closing for a major £280,000 makeover to enhance its community vibe and facilities
Ipswich: A beloved local pub is shutting down for a bit while it gets a facelift worth over £280,000. The Mermaid on Yarmouth Road is closing its doors today for some exciting updates.
They’re sprucing up the place to make it more inviting for everyone. The revamp will include a brand-new bar area with big-screen TVs for all the sports fans out there, plus a pool table and darts for some fun.
They’re also adding a family lounge, which is great news for parents. The pub will keep its popular kids’ menu, offering small favorites for older kids and a fun ‘build-your-own’ option for the little ones.
General manager Liam Robb is really pumped about the changes. He mentioned that this refurbishment will not only welcome the community but also create more job opportunities, which is a win-win.
He added that the new setup will be perfect for enjoying a drink, catching the biggest sports events, or having a nice family meal together.
The Mermaid is set to reopen on February 14, so mark your calendars! This makeover is part of a bigger investment by Marston’s, the company behind over 1,600 pubs across the UK.
