Redditch: A new first school and nursery will open in 2027. It will have 450 places for students and 52 for nursery kids. This school will help meet the growing need for school places due to new housing in the area.

Worcestershire County Council approved the school plans in November 2023. They invited bids to run the school from April to June 2024.

After reviewing the proposals, a recommendation was made to the Regional Director for the Department for Education. They made the final decision on behalf of the Secretary of State.

Councillor David Chambers, who oversees education in Worcestershire, expressed excitement. He said The Rivers CofE Academy Trust will lead this important new school.

He praised their strong record in providing quality education. He believes this will give Redditch children a great start in their education.

Matt Meckin, CEO of The Rivers CofE Academy Trust, shared his enthusiasm. He said they are proud to add Foxlydiate First School to their trust.

The trust is one of the largest primary specialist trusts in the West Midlands. They have a history of improving schools and providing excellent education.

They have experience in starting new schools, including a free school in 2019. Their community focus will make Foxlydiate a welcoming place for local children.

Established in 2014, The Rivers CofE Academy Trust specializes in primary education. They currently run 15 academies, with 12 in Worcestershire, all rated ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
