A third suspect has been arrested in connection with a murder case involving a man struck by a car on Christmas Day in Blackburn
Blackburn: So, there’s been a pretty shocking turn of events. A third person has been arrested in connection with a murder investigation after a man was hit by a car following a bar argument on Christmas Day.
Police got called to The Gate Street Bar and Grill just before 5 PM. The victim, Kirk Marsden, 37, from Blackburn, was hit by a Toyota Land Cruiser and suffered serious injuries.
He was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital but sadly passed away early on Boxing Day. It’s just heartbreaking.
Two men, one 58 and another 31, were initially arrested on suspicion of murder. The older guy has been released on bail, but the 35-year-old is still in custody.
Then, over the weekend, a 26-year-old was also taken in for questioning. It’s all moving pretty fast.
Detective Chief Inspector Bryony Midgley shared that their thoughts are with Kirk’s family during this tough time. They’re getting support from specially trained officers, which is good to hear.
She mentioned that they found the Toyota Land Cruiser in a car park after it sped away from the scene. They’re asking anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from that area around the time of the incident to come forward.
There was an altercation in the bar before the tragic event, and they’re keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with mobile footage.
Midgley reassured the community that they’ve increased patrols in the area, which is a relief. If anyone has info, they should call 101 and reference log 747 from December 27.
In a heartfelt tribute, Kirk’s family expressed their love and how much he’ll be missed. It’s just so sad to see a life cut short like this.
