The Tiger on Demand bus service now connects more rural areas in Cambridgeshire, making travel easier for residents in those communities.
So, what’s new? They’ve added virtual bus stops and a better booking app, plus they promise competitive fares. The new areas include Cambourne, Longstowe, and Papworth Everard, along with Ely, Littleport, and March.
The service runs Monday to Saturday from 6:30 AM to 7 PM, with kids riding for just £1 and adults for £2. If you have a concession or a Tiger Pass, you might even travel for free or at a discount.
Booking is super easy! You can use the Tiger on Demand app or call their center if you’re not into smartphones. The app lets you book rides between virtual stops, which helps cover more ground without messing with fixed routes.
The launch was on Saturday, January 11, and Dr. Nik Johnson, the Labour mayor, took a ride to show off the service. He mentioned how crucial this is for improving rural transport and making it more accessible.
Interestingly, the previous service, Ting, faced some criticism for being too costly. But a survey showed that 94% of users preferred the taxi-style service over regular buses. Young people especially liked it more than the traditional options.
