A new project in Torbay empowers young people to express themselves through music and radio, creating exciting opportunities for local talent.
Kicking off with a live event at Stage Left, the excitement is palpable. Local acts and the popular band The Scribes will perform, and tickets sold out fast! If you missed out, don’t worry; you can catch it live on the Ocean Youth radio app.
Ocean Youth is a radio station run by young people, and they’re expanding their schedule. With 33,000 listeners, they’re offering shows where anyone 16 and older can learn radio skills, create podcasts, and share their interests.
Daisy Lloyd, the creative producer, is thrilled about the launch. She believes it’s a fantastic way to kick things off. The Scribes, who have been part of the local music scene for years, are excited to support this initiative. They know how crucial it is for young artists to have a space to grow and share their work.
The event also celebrates a project called ‘This Is Us,’ where young people created their own music over two years. It’s all about empowering them to perform and showcase their talents.
After the launch, Daisy will host the first Sonar Radio Session at the Ocean Youth station. It’s a great chance for new presenters to dive into making shows about what they love.
Daisy emphasizes that this station is for young people aged 16 and up, giving them a voice to share their hobbies and talents. It’s an exciting time for the youth of Torbay, and they’re ready to make some noise!
