A tornado warning has been issued for Wiltshire as Storm Éowyn brings severe weather, including heavy rain and strong winds
Swindon: A tornado forecast has been issued for Wiltshire as Storm Éowyn rolls in. The European Storm Forecast Experiment has warned of severe weather until Friday morning.
They’ve put a level one warning in place, which means there’s a small chance—about five percent—of a tornado forming within 25 miles of any point. Some areas might also see lightning.
The Met Office has added to the concern with a yellow weather warning for wind, extending it to include rain for Sunday and Monday. So, it’s going to be a wild few days!
Storm Éowyn is the fifth named storm this season and is expected to cause some serious disruptions, including heavy flooding. It’s not just Wiltshire that’s feeling the heat; parts of Scotland and Ireland are under a rare red weather warning for wind.
On Friday, Scotland will see an amber warning, so it’s best to stay alert if you’re in those areas. The Met Office mentioned that heavy rain will sweep through today, followed by gusty winds and blustery showers.
Wind gusts could hit 50-60 mph in some spots, especially along the coasts and hills, with even higher gusts possible on exposed coasts. The winds should start to ease later in the afternoon.
