Torryburn Primary School received a satisfactory rating, highlighting strengths in student engagement and areas for improvement in tracking progress
Torryburn: So, Torryburn Primary School just got its inspection results back from Education Scotland. The report said the kids are super interested in learning, which is awesome! The senior teachers are doing a great job creating a solid learning environment.
But, there’s a bit of a catch. The report mentioned that the way teachers track the kids’ progress isn’t quite up to snuff yet. It seems like the students’ performance has been a bit all over the place in recent years.
Claire Wyatt, the head teacher, was really happy about the feedback. She said it’s great that the positive vibes between the school and families were noticed. The kids are proud of their school, which is so important!
She also pointed out how much respect and care the staff show towards the students. They’re all about growing and learning together, and they’re committed to making things even better for the kids.
The report also highlighted how eager the students are to take on leadership roles and work as a team. That’s a big plus! It seems like there’s been some recent changes in leadership, which has helped everyone understand the school community better.
However, it was noted that past assessments by teachers weren’t always based on solid evidence. This means some areas, like play-based learning, are still in the early stages of development.
Sarah Else, the education manager, called it a positive report overall. She mentioned that while there are a couple of areas to improve, the school has already spotted these and they’re part of their improvement plan moving forward.
