Vale of Glamorgan: So, it turns out that a few businesses at Atlantic Business Park have been doing their own thing, not sticking to the planning rules set when the place was built. We’re talking about Vale of Glamorgan Brewery, Vale Community Fitness, and CB STONE. They were all operating in ways that weren’t allowed.

The council’s planning committee gave the green light back in December 2024 to send out enforcement notices to these businesses. But guess what? It seems those notices aren’t needed anymore.

According to the council, Vale Community Fitness is now working on getting the right planning permission, and CB STONE is back on track, following the rules. As for the brewery, it looks like they’ve shut down on their own terms.

A spokesperson from the council mentioned that they prefer to sort out planning issues through friendly chats rather than jumping straight to enforcement. They want to keep things smooth and avoid any heavy-handed actions.

Now, Dawan Developments, the company behind the park, says it’s really up to the tenants to follow the planning rules. The director, Anwar Ismail, pointed out that they just provide the buildings, and it’s the tenants’ job to make sure they’re compliant.

Interestingly, a council report highlighted that some businesses were using their spaces for things that could cause noise and traffic issues, which isn’t great for the neighborhood. They want to avoid any long-term problems that could arise from these businesses operating outside their intended use.

When the park was approved back in 2018, it was meant for light industrial use or storage. The council has found several businesses not sticking to that plan, but many are now trying to fix things by applying for the right permissions.

Oh, and fun fact: the brewery even had a visit from former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during his campaign last year. Ismail believes the park has created jobs and was built before new homes popped up nearby, so it’s a bit of a balancing act.

In the end, he said it’s all about what the tenants do with the space they rent. The landlord’s job is just to provide a building that meets the necessary regulations.
