A Tranent woman is frustrated after discovering a cooking oil spill outside her home, causing a mess and safety concerns.
Tranent: A woman in Tranent came home to a nasty surprise last Monday. After spending the night with family, she found a big spill of cooking oil right outside her house on Church Street.
She recently moved to Tranent for more support due to her multiple sclerosis, which makes daily life a bit tougher. So, you can imagine how frustrating this was for her.
She described the mess as “very dirty and slippy.” Apparently, the spill came from a wheelie bin full of used cooking oil from the Tranent Villa Chinese takeaway. Yikes!
Some sand was thrown over the oil, but she said it wasn’t enough to clean it up. Now, the oil is being tracked into her home and her neighbors’ homes, which is just gross.
With workers fitting a new bathroom and kitchen, they’ve accidentally spread the cooking fat and sand all over her hallway. Not great, especially since she has MS and needs to be careful.
She’s worried about the fire risk and health hazards this spill could cause. She reached out to environmental health but hasn’t heard back yet. That’s got to be frustrating!
What’s even more concerning is that the business hasn’t contacted her at all. She feels left in the dark about what’s going to happen next.
While she understands that accidents happen, she’s still upset about the inconvenience this has caused her and her neighbors. The land where the oil bin is seems to be private property, but that doesn’t make the situation any easier for her.
She’s hoping for some answers soon. The Courier has reached out to Tranent Villa for their side of the story.
