King’s Lynn: A tragic accident took place on April 5, 2023. Ivo Forde, a 74-year-old father of four, died when an 85-year-old driver crashed into his car. The driver was speeding and ran a red light at the Hardwick roundabout.
Mr. Forde was in his vehicle, waiting at a traffic light when the crash happened. The other driver was going over 70 mph in a powerful BMW. Sadly, Mr. Forde was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Brian Allen, admitted to causing the crash during a police interview. However, he passed away from unrelated causes before facing any charges. An inquest confirmed that Mr. Forde died due to the collision.
Mary Forde, Ivo’s wife, shared a heartfelt tribute. She expressed her sadness over the accident and the impact it had on their family. She emphasized the need for discussions about elderly drivers and road safety.
Mary mentioned that over 400 people attended Ivo’s thanksgiving service, showing how loved he was. She hopes that lessons can be learned from this tragedy to prevent future accidents.
