A potential merger between two education trusts could enhance resources and opportunities for schools in Rainham, benefiting students and communities.
They’ve reached out to parents at Rainham Mark Grammar School, Riverside Primary, and Twydall Primary about this plan. The letter explains that both trusts are dedicated to their communities. By joining forces, they believe they can do even more for the kids and the neighborhoods they serve.
Dr. Kerry Jordan-Daus, the interim chief executive of RMET, signed the letter. A final decision on the merger will be made by March 2025, after both trusts finish reviewing each other’s finances and educational quality.
If everything goes smoothly, the new trust could be up and running by September, pending approval from the Department for Education. Parents are also gathering feedback through a survey, as some are worried the merger might happen too quickly.
RMET started in 2011, while Veritas was established in 2015. Both trusts have grown since their beginnings as single academies. They aim to improve educational outcomes by combining their resources and expertise.
The schools under Veritas include Warden House in Deal, Pilgrims Way in Canterbury, and Mundella in Folkestone. Last year, a merger attempt with another trust didn’t go through due to some negative inspections. But this time, the focus is on creating a stronger, larger organization that can better serve students.
