The Vale Royal Lions are raising funds to provide wood-burning stoves for families in Ukraine as winter approaches
Northwich: Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the Vale Royal Lions Club has been busy fundraising to help those in need. This year, they’re aiming to provide 15,000 wood-burning stoves to families facing the cold.
As winter approaches, these stoves will be sent to cities like Kharkiv, Pavlograd, and Zaporizhia. It’s getting chilly, and these stoves will help families stay warm and cook meals.
Rob Brown, a spokesperson for the club, shared that last winter, they raised funds to send over 2,000 generators to schools in Ukraine. This year, they’ve already donated £500 to the Ukraine Appeal.
The Lions Clubs International, which includes Vale Royal Lions, has over 1.4 million members worldwide. They’ve been helping those in need for nearly 50 years.
According to the UN, more than 14.6 million people in Ukraine need urgent help right now. This winter is expected to be especially tough due to damage to energy infrastructure.
The Lions are promoting their efficient wood-burning stoves, which can be used for both heating and cooking. For just €150, you can provide a stove to a family in need.
If you want to help, the charity has set up a Just Giving page for donations. Every little bit counts!
