A dedicated group of volunteers recently repaired the boardwalk in Auchnacraig Woodland Park, enhancing access for the community and nature lovers alike
Auchnacraig: Recently, a group of volunteers rolled up their sleeves to fix the wooden path at Auchnacraig Woodland Park. They teamed up with The Conservation Volunteers and West Dunbartonshire Council to spruce up the area.
On a Tuesday in January, locals and conservation members came together to tackle the repairs. They worked hard from 10am to 2pm, making a real difference.
Gareth Culverwell, one of the volunteers, shared how rewarding the project was. He said it was tough work, but finishing it felt amazing. He’s eager to join more projects in the future.
The goal was to help the community access the park better and teach volunteers some handy repair skills. Spending time outdoors is great for mental and physical health, and this project aimed to promote that.
Fiona McGrevey from TCV expressed her excitement about working with such passionate volunteers. She highlighted how these projects not only connect people with nature but also improve the local environment.
Looking ahead, TCV has more projects lined up. On February 4, they’ll be upgrading a muddy path in Havoc, Dumbarton, and on March 4, they’ll return to Faifley to clear invasive bracken.
Both events are open to anyone aged 18 and over, and those interested can reach out to secure a spot. It’s a great way to get involved and enjoy the outdoors!
