A Warrington pub is turning Blue Monday into a fun night with a quiz, aiming to lift spirits and bring the community together
Warrington: Today is Blue Monday, known as the most depressing day of the year. But one pub is stepping up to change that vibe.
The Cat and Lion on Tarporley Road is hosting a quiz to spread some joy and bring people together. It’s a weekly event, and today is no different.
Russell Bridge, the landlord, says, “Anyone can join in! It’s a fun quiz with seven rounds, each with a different theme. I’ll be hosting it myself.”
He adds, “There’s always a lot of light-hearted banter between me and the locals. It’s a great way to beat the Blue Monday blues.”
The quiz kicks off at 8:30 PM and costs just £1 per person. It lasts about an hour, followed by a game of Bingo 60, which has a rollover jackpot of £100!
The Cat and Lion is part of the Joseph Holt pubs in the northwest, which offer various activities. Mark Norbury, the pubs director, shares, “Blue Monday might be tough, but many people feel lonely and face challenges every day.”
He emphasizes that these pubs are more than just places to eat and drink; they’re community hubs where people can connect and lift each other’s spirits.
“Today, our pubs will shine with activities to help everyone feel better on Blue Monday. It’s a chance to enjoy some fun and forget about the gloom,” he says.
