Warrington: Dog theft is really becoming a big problem in the UK. Since 2019, the number of incidents has shot up by a crazy 170 percent. That’s according to the folks at Locksmith Luton.
Since the start of 2023, over 25,000 pets have gone missing. Can you believe that? That’s about six pets disappearing every single day!
To figure out where the trouble spots are, Locksmith Luton took a close look at missing pet data from reliable sources like Animal Search UK and Pets Reunited.
They wanted to find out which towns and cities have the highest rates of missing pets in the last year. This info is super important for pet owners who need to keep a close eye on their furry friends.
Manchester is at the top of the list, with a jaw-dropping 236 cases of missing pets each year. That’s about 17.93 pets for every 10,000 residents!
Huddersfield comes in second, with a shocking 12.01 missing pets for every 10,000 people.
And then there’s Warrington, sitting in third place with 11.91 reported missing pet cases per 10,000 residents.
On the flip side, Dundee is the safest city for pets, with just five reported missing cases on average, which is only 1.02 cases per 10,000 residents.
Swansea is next, with only 1.20 missing pets per 10,000 people, and Edinburgh follows closely with 1.44 missing pet cases per 10,000 residents.
