Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, made a heartwarming visit to Dogs for Autism, meeting adorable dogs and their partners while learning about their impact
East Hampshire: Despite the dreary weather, a charity had a special visitor today. Dogs for Autism welcomed HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh.
She was greeted by the Lord-Lieutenant at the Lavender Fields Shop. The Duchess met several dogs and their partners, learning how these assistance dogs change lives.
Next, she checked out the training center. There, she saw trainee dogs Buddy, Jack, and Finn in action. Buddy is a familiar face on ITV’s This Morning, and Dr. Scott Miller, the show’s vet, was there too. You can catch the visit on the show tomorrow!
The Duchess even walked one of the dogs to the training center, soaking up all the info about their important work.
During her time there, she met staff, trustees, and local volunteers. She also got to cuddle with the newest pup, Louis, a 9-week-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Louis was bred by a vet focused on improving the breed’s health. His older sibling, Lexi, is already part of the team and doing great work.
Zoe Lattimer, the charity’s Chair of Trustees, thanked the Duchess for her visit and invited her to unveil a plaque to commemorate the occasion.
To wrap up her visit, the Duchess unveiled the plaque at the training center, leaving everyone with smiles.
