Inverness: Strong winds are on the way for Scotland this Friday and Saturday. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning due to a ‘weather bomb’ that’s brewing.

They’re predicting gusts could hit 80 mph in places like Moray and the Highlands. This storm is fueled by a super-fast jet stream, which can whip up some serious weather.

While we won’t see those jet stream speeds, they can really amp up the energy in our atmosphere, leading to rapid changes in weather. This phenomenon is what forecasters call a ‘weather bomb.’

The warning kicks in just after midnight on Friday and lasts until 5 pm on Saturday. Expect strong winds across a large part of Scotland, especially along the coasts.

A spokesperson mentioned that a deep low-pressure system will move close to the northwest UK, bringing strong south-easterly to south-westerly winds. Gusts could reach 50-60 mph inland and even higher along the coast.

The alert covers a wide area, including the Hebrides, Orkney, and parts of western Scotland, extending down to Northern Ireland.

For the latest updates, check out the Met Office website. Stay safe out there!
