Dorset: So, Storm Eowyn is really making its presence felt today. The winds kicked in early this morning and were supposed to ease up by 2pm, but guess what? They’ve extended that warning until 5pm now.

This storm is rolling in from the west, and it’s bringing some serious weather with it. The Met Office mentioned that a band of heavy rain is moving eastward, and we can expect some gusty winds along with it.

They’re saying wind gusts could hit 50-60 mph in some areas, especially along the coast and on hills. In fact, some exposed coastal spots might even see gusts up to 70 mph. But don’t worry, the winds should start to calm down later in the afternoon.

Looking ahead, there are two yellow weather warnings for tomorrow too. Heavy rain is expected from midnight until 9am, which could lead to some localized flooding. So, keep an eye out!

And it doesn’t stop there—strong winds are set to continue tomorrow from 5am to 3pm. The meteorologists are even warning of a level 2 alert for southern England, with a chance of tornadoes popping up.

Travel could get pretty tricky in the next few days. Mark Nash from National Highways is advising everyone to be cautious. If you’re hitting the road, make sure you’re prepared and drive safely.

They’ve got a section on their website dedicated to tips for driving in storms and high winds, so it might be worth checking out if you’re planning to travel.
