London: So, Trump’s back in the White House, huh? His second term is kicking off, and it’s got everyone in the UK on edge. The special relationship between the US and the UK might be tested like never before. Keir Starmer, the UK Prime Minister, and Trump don’t exactly see eye to eye, and that’s putting it mildly.
Starmer’s got a tough job ahead. He’s got to figure out how to deal with Trump’s policies without making things worse. It’s a bit of a balancing act, really. David Lammy, the Foreign Secretary, has been trying to keep things diplomatic, hoping to start off on the right foot.
Trump’s already making waves, promising a bunch of executive orders right out of the gate. One of the big concerns? Tariffs. He’s talking about slapping a hefty tax on imports from countries he thinks are taking advantage of the US. The UK is holding its breath, hoping it won’t get caught in the crossfire.

On top of that, there’s NATO and defense spending. Trump wants the UK to spend more on defense, which could be a tough sell given the current economic situation. And then there’s the situation in Ukraine. Trump wants to wrap that up quickly, but some of his comments have raised eyebrows about what he might give up to make that happen.
Lastly, there’s the Chagos Islands deal. The UK was hoping to finalize something with Mauritius before Trump took office, but now that’s on hold. It’s a bit of a mess, and it looks like Trump will have the final say on that one.
