Great Yarmouth: So, Storm Eowyn is on its way, and it’s bringing some serious winds. The Met Office has issued a yellow alert from 5am to 3pm on Friday. You might want to hold onto your hats!
Winds could hit up to 53mph by 6am, which is pretty wild. After that, places like Norwich and Cromer will feel the impact too, with gusts around 50mph by 8am.
It looks like the worst of it will be in the early morning. By 9am, winds should drop to about 48mph, and then down to 43mph by 10am. Still, that’s no picnic!
From midday, things will calm down a bit, with winds in the 30mph range until the alert ends at 3pm. But don’t let your guard down just yet; travel delays and power outages are likely.
Andrea Bishop from the Met Office mentioned that this storm could really shake things up across the UK. It’s going to start affecting the weather on Friday, especially in the north-west.
And just a heads up, the European Storm Forecast Experiment has also warned about severe weather in southern and eastern England until 6am Friday. So, keep an eye out!
All of Norfolk, except for the north part, is under a “level one” severe warning. That means there’s a small chance of a tornado, so stay safe out there!
