Deal: A married couple is closing their beloved shop after 14 years. Skinner’s Electrical Supplies will shut its doors for the last time on February 22.

Keith and Lesley Skinner, aged 70 and 66, feel it’s time to retire. Their lease ends in March, making it the perfect moment to step back.

Keith has worked in the electrical trade for 55 years. He admits retirement will feel strange after so long. “It’s a big loss,” he said.

They’ve enjoyed a wonderful range of customers who became friends over the years. “The wife is pleased to be stopping – I’ve got mixed feelings,” Keith shared.

Health issues over the past six months also influenced their decision. “We feel it’s time to stop,” he explained.

They posted a closure notice in the shop window, and news spread quickly on social media. Many customers expressed their sadness and support.

Skinner’s opened in January 2011, selling heating and lighting products, lightbulbs, batteries, and more. Keith started in the electrical trade at 14 and has worked in various businesses.

The couple has worked together in the electrical goods industry for decades. They live in Deal and have been married since March 1978.
