Residents are urged to steer clear of Corrie Wood due to over 50 dangerous trees posing risks to safety
Lockerbie: So, there’s a bit of a situation in Corrie Wood. Over 50 trees have been marked as dangerous, and the council is asking everyone to stay away. It’s not just a casual warning; they’re serious about it.
This area is owned by Dumfries and Galloway Council, and it’s part of the town’s common good. But now, 51 trees are unstable and could pose a risk to anyone who wanders in. Yikes!
The council put out a public notice saying, “Please do not enter any part of the wood as there is a risk to your safety.” They really want people to take this seriously.
At a recent community council meeting, some folks were a bit doubtful about whether people would actually listen. One member, Doreen Jenkins, mentioned that keeping kids out of the woods might be a tough sell.
As for what the council plans to do about those trees, it’s still up in the air. They’ve removed some damaged ones in the past, but it’s unclear if they’ll take action this time.
