Wrexham: A call has been made for more waste bins in public areas. Dog walkers need places to dispose of pet waste properly.

Mayor Beryl Blackmore wants a bin on Wynnstay Lane. She found a dog waste bag tied to a tree. After posting about it online, many shared their frustration.

Beryl said it’s not her job to clean up after dogs. She urged people to take responsibility and use bins or take waste home.

Local resident Sue Davies noted a lack of bins on public paths. She sees bags hung on fences and thrown in trees due to this issue.

Helen Fernee mentioned she has removed bags from trees for years. She finds it hard to understand why some people don’t use bins.

Another resident recalled a tree on Hudson Hill decorated with dog waste bags. They believe some people feel above the task of cleaning up.

Mayor Beryl also pointed out that more bins mean more maintenance. People might complain about too many bins cluttering the streets.

Darren Williams, Chief Officer for Environment, said most dog owners care for their pets and surroundings. However, a few do not, and their actions affect everyone.

He reminded residents that bagged dog waste can go in general litter bins. If there’s no bin nearby, take it home.

Wrexham has Dog Control Orders to manage dog behavior, including fouling. You can report dog fouling online.
