Around 100 young air cadets received awards for their dedication at a ceremony in Kensington, celebrating their achievements and contributions.
London: About 100 young air cadets were honored at a special awards ceremony. Many of them came from Wandsworth. They received recognition for their hard work and dedication.
The Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards were given out at Kensington Great Hall. This event celebrated cadets aged 11-25 for their contributions to their units.
Winners received medallions, framed certificates, and a £300 grant for their units. Seventeen adults also received Leader Awards for motivating young people. They were recognized with medallions and certificates.
Squadron Leader Terry McCarty praised the cadets for their impact. He said it was great to see their contributions celebrated.
One standout was Anthony Mayne, 16, from 34F Balham & Tooting. He was recognized for his passion for STEM, especially aviation. He participated in various projects, including building a drone for the RTX Quadcopter challenge.
Anthony expressed his joy at receiving the award, feeling that his hard work was finally recognized.
Tatiana Andrade Pisco, 14, from 33F Battersea, also won an award for her enthusiasm. She joined the squadron a year ago and has become more confident.
Tatiana took part in fundraising for the RBL Poppy Appeal, helping raise nearly £5,000. She received positive feedback for her efforts.
She shared her belief that self-confidence leads to achievement. The Jack Petchey Foundation has inspired over 1.3 million young people since its founding in 1999.
Sir Jack Petchey, who established the foundation, believed in recognizing young people’s contributions to society.
